The PSL (Pakistan Super League) was a T20 League started by the Pakistan Cricket Board Last Year. Last year’s season was not as good and entertaining as IPL because the standard of International Players was not up to the mark, but this year, it’s bigger and better. An Indian Fan said about the PSL 2: “The TV ratings of the PSL, are better than any masala Bollywood movie and the euphoria around it is probably like the time Javed Miandad hit that last ball six.”
While India will be hosting the tenth edition of its T20 tournament in April 2017, it is only the second season of the Pakistan Super League. Pakistan fans have been comparing the PSL with IPL since it’s origin. Here are 8 reasons why PSL II can give a tough challenge to IPL.
Ipl is known to be a brand of T20 Cricket. However the trophy has remained the same for many seasons, since it was changed a few years ago. The PSL came up with an impressive Trophy for it’s only second season. Fans have been comparing the two trophies and on many social media polls, the PSL Trophy, made with 50000 crystals won.
2. Ab De Villiers might not be playing IPL 10
The Pakistan Super League has many top class players like Gayle, Watson, Muccullum etc, which the Ipl also had. The only big difference left was Mr.360, Ab De Villiers. A player who really made a big standard difference between the 2 leagues. Ab recently said that he wont be playing any T20 League except for IPL now. But now, news is coming that Ab De Villiers will not be playing IPL 10 as he is concentrating on Upcoming Champions Trophy in June 2017.
Shahid Afridi. The name has the ability elicit responses from the whole spectrum of human emotions. He has been loved and emulated. He is one of the biggest names when it comes to T20 Cricket. If there is One thing which PSL has and IPL doesn’t, its him. He is also known as Boom Boom and is one of the most explosive batsman in T20 Cricket and a handy leg spinner too. Who can forget his 5-7 against Quetta Gladiators in PSL 1. Hence, it is another reason why PSL can match up with IPL.
4. Opening Ceremony
The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 got off to a roaring start as a dazzling opening ceremony that enthralled a packed Dubai International Stadium on Thursday evening before the opening match between defending champions Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. The HBL PSL opening ceremony saw eye catching performances by international super stars Shaggy, Ali Zafar and Shehzad Roy. The cultural act included a 3D projection for the first time ever in a Pakistani show which illuminated the famed ‘Ring of Fire’ stadium in Dubai. The ceremony also included flying drummers and was one of a kind. The IPL 2016 ceremony was called boring by many people and nothing was up to the mark except for Katrina Kaif’s performance.
5. Trophies for Performers
The Pakistan Super League has announced Trophies for different Performance including Best Batsman, Best Wicket Keeper and Best Bowler. A thing which IPL or any other League in the world has never done.
